Read 1 Samuel 16:1-13
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.1 Samuel 16:7 (ESV)
Who is Samuel?
Samuel was a prophet. He had anointed Israel’s new king, Saul. However, King Saul disobeyed God. Because of this, God told Samuel to anoint a new king.
Who is David?
David was Israel’s king after Saul died. David’s son, Solomon, build the first temple in Jerusalem. It was prophesied that the Jewish Messiah would come from the line of David.
What is important about this passage?
David is one of the most famous people mentioned in the Bible. He is credited with writing many of the psalms.
