Who is Elijah?

Elijah was an Old Testament prophet.

Why did Jesus say God had forsaken him?

When he said, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” some of the people would have known he was quoting Psalm 22. They would have known the rest of the psalm had parallels with the crucifixion they were witnessing.

What is important about this passage?

Jesus reminds the people who he is before he dies.
